PESHAWAR: Dr. Saleha Saeed has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing 1st position in the oral presentation competition at the 46th International Conference of the Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) 2025. Her winning research, titled “Comparison of Salivary Matrix Metalloproteinase-8 Levels in Periodontitis Patients With and Without Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus,” was presented under the banner of the Pakistan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (PSOMP), marking a proud moment for the dental and pathology research community in Pakistan.

Recognizing excellence in oral pathology research

Dr. Saleha’s study demonstrated strong scientific insight and a keen focus on the intersection of oral pathology, systemic health, and diagnostic innovation. Her evidence-based approach contributes valuable data toward understanding periodontal disease biomarkers and their links with diabetes mellitus — a growing health concern in Pakistan and globally.

From academic excellence to professional leadership

Dr. Saleha recently completed her M.Phil. in Oral Pathology from the Department of Oral Pathology, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar. Throughout her academic journey, she exhibited exceptional dedication, critical thinking, and research acumen, earning recognition from peers and faculty alike.

She has now joined the Dental College, HITEC-IMS, Taxila, where she continues to expand her academic and research pursuits in oral pathology and disease diagnostics, inspiring young researchers and clinicians to pursue scientific excellence.
