LAHORE: Students of de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, batch Demont’26, delivered a standout performance at the recently held 46th International Conference of the Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) in Lahore. Out of seven participating teams from the college, de’Montmorency secured the top two positions in the conference e-poster competition, was named best institutional participant among dental colleges and took home the PAP gold medal for the best scientific poster among more than 100 competing medical college groups.

First place in the e-poster competition was awarded to a five-member team — Adnan Akram, Taha Kashif, Yaqoob Sani, Rehan Dara and Zarak Sajjad — for their research titled “Perception and awareness of potentially malignant disorders in general population.” The winning poster investigated public knowledge of oral potentially malignant disorders, highlighting gaps in awareness that have important implications for early detection and community oral-health education.

The second prize went to the group of Zainab Anis, Aneeqa Ehsan, Muhammad Samama, Minahil Imran and Dr. Saba Hanif for a clinical case-report titled “Management of Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor in a patient with ischemic heart disease: A rare case report.” Their submission earned praise for its thorough multidisciplinary approach to a complex case that combined oncologic, surgical and cardiologic considerations.

Beyond individual awards, de’Montmorency’s collective presence at PAP was singled out for excellence. The college received the award for best institutional participation among dental colleges — an acknowledgement of both the quality and the breadth of submissions. The crowning achievement was the PAP gold medal for the best scientific poster across all medical colleges, an honor that underscores the high standard of research and poster presentation produced by the dental students.

“Seven teams from de’Mont took part and the results speak to the college’s emphasis on research, clinical inquiry and community-oriented education,” said a faculty representative, noting that the achievements reflect both student diligence and faculty mentorship.

The success at PAP adds to de’Montmorency’s reputation for producing clinically competent and research-minded graduates ready to contribute to Pakistan’s oral-health care system.
