GENEVA: The four-day FDI World Dental Congress (WDC) will be held from Sept 12 to 15 in the culturally rich city of Istanbul, Türkiye, featuring a fusion of tradition and innovation.
The congress, organised by the FDI World Dental Federation, in collaboration with the Turkish Dental Association, will offer opportunities for advanced continuing education, networking with international experts, and insights into the evolving field of dentistry.
It will feature eight parallel sessions covering a wide array of topics, such as multidisciplinary treatment strategies, clinical challenges, enhanced decision-making, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in dentistry.
A key focus of this year's Congress will be digital dentistry, with sessions divided into various streams including local, international, auxiliaries, FDI-hosted events, meet-the-expert discussions, and hands-on workshops led by over 100 international speakers.
During the event, Dr Faisal Alrashidi will explore the integration of digital dentistry into implants and conventional treatments. About his session, he said: "Digital dentistry is a natural progression in the field but it has its limitations, and sometimes we need to return to basic practices when technology falls short. My session will feature numerous clinical cases and evidence to keep the audience engaged."
Dr Henriette Lerner will address the digital workflow for full-arch rehabilitations, highlighting the predictability and minimally invasive nature of these procedures, backed by scientific data. "I'm thrilled to participate in the FDI WDC. My session will cover each step of the digital workflow for full-arch rehabilitations, providing both scientific data and clinical insights."
Prof Tian-Min Xu will discuss the use of 3D and 4D imaging for orthodontic brackets, adding, "Digital technologies have long played a role in orthodontics, including auto-cephalometric analysis and aligner treatments. Recent advances in artificial intelligence have brought more diagnostic options and simplified treatment approaches, which I look forward to sharing at the Congress."
To make the most of this important event, the participants have been asked to review the scientific programme and tailor their FDI WDC experience according to their interests.
