LARKANA: The Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) Larkana organized a practical training workshop on Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) for second-year students of Batch 13, aiming to strengthen hands-on learning in preventive dentistry. The activity was conducted by the Department of Community Dentistry as part of its academic program focused on minimally invasive dental care.

The workshop began with an introductory talk by Prof. Dr A. Bari Memon, Chairperson of the Community Dentistry Department, who discussed the clinical value of ART in preserving tooth structure and expanding access to basic dental treatment. He emphasized that the technique reflects modern global practices centered on prevention, conservation, and patient-friendly care.

A live procedural demonstration was later conducted by Dr Rashid Iqbal and Dr Nadia Bhutto, Assistant Professors from the Department of Operative Dentistry, using extracted carious teeth. The demonstration illustrated essential stages of the ART technique, including manual caries excavation and placement of restorative material in line with standard ART guidelines.

Students then carried out the procedure themselves under faculty supervision, allowing them to translate theory into practice. The exercise helped them build confidence in performing conservative restorative techniques suited for community and outreach settings.

Participants and faculty members described the workshop as a valuable learning experience that reinforced practical competence alongside academic knowledge. The initiative highlighted BADC Larkana’s ongoing efforts to equip future dentists with clinically relevant skills and promote evidence-based, patient-centered dental care.
