TAXILA: The Dental College at HITEC Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) recently hosted a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop, conducted by the Lifesavers Foundation, as part of its Faculty and Staff Development Programme.

Organised by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the workshop aimed to enhance life-saving skills among the 39 participants.

Dr Zeeshan Baig from the Lifesavers Foundation led the intensive training, which involved hands-on practice of essential BLS techniques.

Workshop participants were trained in ventilation, chest compressions, the use of AEDs, and choking management for both adult and paediatric patients, using mannequins to simulate real-life scenarios.

The workshop was also attended by college Principal Prof Dr Irfan Shah, clinical department heads, professors, associate and assistant professors, registrars, and faculty members from basic sciences. This included the Heads of Oral Pathology and Dental Materials, as well as a Dental Surgery Assistant. All participants successfully completed the workshop, which culminated in a comprehensive assessment.

This BLS training was aimed at promoting highest standards of humanitarian service.
