KARACHI- Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) with a view to ensuring safe blood transfusion facilities has formed hospital committees at district level across the province.
The SBTA’s provincial programme manager and secretary Dr Zahid Hasan Ansari said that the committees will supervise and ensure safe blood transfusion facilities in their respective health care centres.
Each hospital committee will have six members and will be headed by medical superintendents of district level hospitals, he said, adding that committee will meet every month to compile reports and send the same to provincial secretary health.
Mr Ansari said that the SBTA in collaboration with Germany’s health support programme, called GIZ, had recently organized four training seminars for the members of the committees. These seminars were arranged in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Sukkar, he added.
Foreign experts along with local doctors apprised the members of committees and other health practitioners about new safe blood procedures.
