Dental Nexus Summit 2026 to focus on AI, digital and aesthetic dentistry

LAHORE: Artificial intelligence, digital workflows, laser applications, implantology and aesthetic dentistry will form the core of the Dental Nexus Summit 2026, which is set to bring dental specialists, academics and clinicians together at The University of Lahore on October 17.

Organised around the theme “Bringing New Dimensions of Dentistry to Everyday Practice,” the summit will combine scientific sessions with clinical demonstrations and practical training, with organisers announcing nine speakers and four hands-on workshops for the one-day programme.

The event will examine areas of dentistry that are increasingly converging in clinical practice, particularly as digital technologies and newer treatment techniques become part of diagnosis, planning and patient care.

The five principal areas identified for the summit are laser dentistry, implantology, digital dentistry, artificial intelligence and aesthetic dentistry.

Nine-member faculty announced

The newly announced speaker panel includes senior academics and clinicians representing a range of dental and maxillofacial disciplines.

Professor Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan, Dean of IADSR, is among the speakers, alongside Professor Dr Amin Ur Rehman, an implantologist and periodontist, and Professor Dr Arshad Malik, Dean of HBS Dental College.

The clinical faculty also includes Dr Islam Kassem, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Facial Aesthetics Specialist, and Dr Irfan Qureshi, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology.

Dr Quratul Ain Zafar, Chief Executive Officer of The Restorative Expert and Cosmetologist, will bring expertise spanning restorative and aesthetic practice.

The academic and pathology component will be represented by Professor Dr Noman Rauf, President of the Pakistan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and Professor Dr Saima Chaudary, Professor of Oral Pathology and Director of CHPL, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, The University of Lahore.

Completing the speaker line-up is Dr Waqas Javied Malik, Maxillofacial and Cosmetic Surgeon.

The range of specialties represented on the panel reflects the summit's multidisciplinary approach, with conventional clinical disciplines being presented alongside technology-driven and aesthetic areas of dentistry.

Four workshops to add practical training

Alongside the scientific programme, the summit will offer four paid hands-on workshops aimed at clinicians seeking practical exposure to specific techniques.

The Laser Dentistry Workshop is priced at PKR 25,000, while the Botox and Dermal Fillers Workshop carries a fee of PKR 35,000.

The programme also includes a PRP Workshop, priced at PKR 20,000, and a Smile Design Workshop, priced at PKR 30,000.

The workshops are intended to complement the main conference programme by giving participants practical exposure rather than limiting the event to lectures and presentations.

Technology takes a larger role in everyday dentistry

The summit's focus comes as digital technologies increasingly intersect with established dental procedures.

Digital dentistry can influence several stages of care, including imaging, treatment planning, restorative workflows, implant planning and aesthetic case design. Artificial intelligence is also emerging as a tool with potential applications across areas such as image analysis, clinical decision support and workflow management.

For implant cases, for example, digital imaging and computer-assisted planning can form part of a wider treatment workflow. Similarly, restorative and aesthetic procedures may incorporate digital design and imaging alongside conventional clinical techniques.

Laser dentistry represents another technology-focused area being highlighted at the summit, while aesthetic dentistry brings together functional treatment considerations with increasingly sophisticated cosmetic procedures.

The Dental Nexus programme places these developments within a single educational setting rather than treating each as an isolated area of practice.

Clinical demonstrations and CPD component included

The October 17 programme will feature live demonstrations and hands-on learning alongside expert-led scientific sessions.

Organisers have also highlighted evidence-based learning, professional networking and interaction with national and international experts as components of the summit.

Participants will receive certificates and CPD-accredited hours, adding a continuing professional development element to the event.

The programme is aimed at dentists, postgraduate trainees and members of the wider dental community interested in developments across clinical dentistry, technology and multidisciplinary practice.
