KARACHI: Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD) is set to host the House Officers Dental Olympiad 2026 on May 19 and 20, bringing together young dental clinicians from institutes across Sindh for a two-day academic and clinical competition.
The event is aimed at promoting practical clinical training and assessing the professional skills of house officers beyond conventional classroom learning. Organizers say the Olympiad has been designed to evaluate participants in areas that reflect real-world dental practice, including diagnostic ability, communication skills, clinical judgment and performance under pressure.
Held under the theme “Challenge. Compete. Excel.”, the competition will include multiple segments such as diagnostic exercises, clinical procedures, standardized patient role plays, article analysis, viva voce examinations and rapid-fire BCQ assessments.
According to the organizers, the initiative seeks to strengthen clinical preparedness among fresh dental graduates entering professional practice. The Olympiad will focus on applied dentistry and practical decision-making rather than memorization-based academic testing.
The event is expected to attract participation from dental institutions across Sindh and provide young dentists with an opportunity to demonstrate their clinical competence in a competitive academic environment.
Organizers believe such activities can help bridge gaps in clinical confidence and encourage a more performance-oriented approach to dental education and training in Pakistan.
