The quiz took place in two phases: Preliminary round and Final quiz. In the preliminary round 16 students with highest scores were selected, Out of these; 8 students were from 1st year BDS and 8 students from 1st year MBBS. These students were divided into a total of 4 groups.

A quiz competition was recently organized by Department of Science of Dental Materials at LCMD in Karachi. It was supervised by Dr. Shumaila Iqbal Moosa (Assistant Prof. HOD) and co-ordinated by Dr. Hina Shaukat,

Dr. Anum Misbah, Dr. Areeba Salim, Dr. Yusra Asif (Demonstrator at Dental Materials, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology respectively). The Judges of the competition were Dr. Naheed Najmi, Dr. Pervaiz Sandela, Dr. Mohammad Javaid, Dr. Sarwar and Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi. Speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion – Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi highlighted the importance of extra-curricular activities in a professional college. He also advised students to live a balanced life between religious and worldly life. The quiz took place in two phases: Preliminary round and Final quiz. In the preliminary round 16 students with highest scores were selected, Out of these; 8 students were from 1st year BDS and 8 students from 1st year MBBS. These students were divided into a total of 4 groups. Two groups comprising students from 1st year BDS and two groups from 1st year MBBS. The final quiz competition comprised of three rounds.

The competition was on knock-out basis in which the group that scored lowest marks was eliminated. In the 1st Round - group discussion was allowed. The 2nd Round had questions for individual participant of each group and was not based on group discussions. In the Final Round only two groups remained in the contest. One from BDS and One from MBBS. Total of 4 questions were asked, i.e. 2 questions from BDS and 2 from MBBS. At the end of Round 3, the MBBS group scored the highest marks and won the competition. In the end, the judges distributed prizes to the winning group and 1st runner-up group. All participants received special certificates. It proved to be an excellent learning experience for every participant.
