KARACHI: In a moment of immense national pride and academic achievement, Jaint Kumar, a final-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM), Karachi, has become the first Pakistani ever selected for the fully-funded One Voice Conference 2025 in the United States.

This groundbreaking opportunity came under the Student Leadership in Global Oral Health Program, organized by the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders in collaboration with the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD).

Held from June 5 to 8 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona, the One Voice Conference 2025 brought together future leaders, healthcare advocates, researchers, and professionals from across the globe to exchange knowledge and strategies for advancing equitable and sustainable oral healthcare—especially for underserved communities.

A proud moment for Pakistan and AIDM

At the conference, Jaint Kumar—who hails from a minority background and has consistently demonstrated leadership in community health initiatives—presented his original research project on oral health disparities in low-resource populations. His active engagement in panel discussions and collaborative sessions not only amplified his voice on global health platforms but also positioned Pakistan’s dental education sector at the center of international dialogue on inclusive oral care.

"Jaint’s participation in this global program exemplifies the caliber of our students and their commitment to making oral health accessible to all,” said Dr. Naseer Ahmed, Vice Principal of Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine. “It’s a proud moment for the entire AIDM community.”

Building leadership in global oral health

The Student Leadership in Global Oral Health Program is designed to nurture future changemakers in dentistry by exposing them to cross-border research, interdisciplinary mentorship, and real-world challenges in healthcare access. Participants were selected after a rigorous international vetting process, ensuring that only the most promising candidates—like Jaint—could contribute meaningfully to this mission.

By representing Pakistan and AIDM on this esteemed platform, Jaint Kumar has not only inspired his peers but has also laid the foundation for greater international academic collaboration in Pakistan’s dental sector.
