Dr. Irfan Qureshi makes history as first Pakistani Diplomate of American Board of Oral Implantology

KARACHI: In a landmark achievement for Pakistan’s dental fraternity, Dr. Irfan Qureshi has become the first Pakistani to earn the prestigious title of Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID) — widely regarded as the highest level of qualification in implant dentistry in the world.

This elite credential is awarded only to those who pass the rigorous ABOI/ID examinations, a process that signifies the highest standards of clinical excellence and professional competency in the field of oral implantology. With this achievement, Dr. Irfan Qureshi has not only raised the bar for dental professionals in the country but has also placed Pakistan on the global map of dental excellence.

According to global statistics:

• India has three Diplomates of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID),
• The Middle East has a total of seven, including six from Saudi Arabia,
• And now, Pakistan joins this distinguished group with its very first Diplomate.

Dr. Irfan Qureshi holds the top UK qualification in Implantology being a Diplomate Implant Dentistry from Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh making him a rare professional holding top tier implantology qualifications from both USA and UK.

The honor will be formally recognized at the upcoming AAID Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, during a special ceremony on November 14, 2025, where new Diplomates will be celebrated for their achievements.
