KARACHI: Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC) marked Blood Donation Month this June in connection with World Blood Donor Day, continuing its annual tradition by launching a blood donation drive at its main campus.
The campaign, organized in collaboration with The Indus Hospital (TIH), saw significant participation from students and administrative staff.
The primary objective of this initiative was to raise awareness about the critical need for blood donations, especially for patients coping with chronic illnesses and blood loss.
Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, highlighting the vital importance of community-driven efforts.
The college volunteers actively participated in the campaign to make it successful.
Donors underwent rigorous eligibility screenings and had their vitals monitored closely before and after donation. Volunteers also prioritized donor comfort and ensured adequate rehydration post-donation.
The drive attracted both first-time and repeat donors. To encourage broader engagement, Indus Hospital offered complimentary blood tests valued at Rs25,000, covering screenings for HIV, hepatitis, and other prevalent communicable diseases in Pakistan.
The donors became eligible for a blood transfusion from Indus Hospital if needed in the future.
This event underscored the community's commitment to uniting for a noble cause.
FJDC and TIH pledged to make the blood donation drive a regular feature to inspire greater participation, contributing to this humanitarian cause.
