LAHORE: The Fatima Jinnah Institute Of Dental Sciences (FJIDS) Lahore successfully hosted an academic seminar titled “Beats Risk: Dental Management Of Cardiac Patients,” focusing on safe, evidence-based dental care for patients with cardiovascular conditions.

The seminar was organized by the Department Of Medical Education (DME) under the leadership of Director Dr. Muhammad Azeem, with active support from the DME team, including Dr. Naila and Dr. Sumera. The initiative reflected FJIDS’s ongoing commitment to strengthening clinical decision-making, patient safety, and interdisciplinary education in dentistry.

The session was facilitated and led by Dean FJIDS, Prof. Dr. Armaghan Mirza, who delivered an in-depth presentation on identifying cardiac risks in dental settings and adopting preventive strategies during dental procedures. Drawing on clinical experience and current guidelines, he emphasized the importance of thorough medical history assessment, risk stratification, and coordinated care with cardiology teams.

Faculty members, doctors, and clinical staff participated actively in the seminar, engaging in discussions on managing common dental interventions in patients with heart disease, anticoagulant therapy considerations, stress reduction protocols, and emergency preparedness in dental clinics. The interactive format encouraged practical learning aligned with real-world clinical challenges.

The seminar reinforced the critical role of continued medical education in dentistry, particularly when treating medically compromised patients. Institutional representatives noted that such academic activities are essential for ensuring ethical, competent, and patient-centered dental care.

FJIDS reaffirmed its commitment to organizing future educational programs that promote evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the highest standards of dental education and patient care.
