TAXILA: HITEC-IMS Dental College actively participated in World Oral Health Day 2025 with an impactful week-long campaign from March 17 to March 21, 2025. The event featured school outreach programs, an awareness lecture at COMSATS University, a poster competition, and an engaging closing ceremony, all aimed at promoting oral health awareness and preventive care.
Community Outreach & Awareness Initiatives
The campaign, spearheaded by Dr. Irfan Shah, Principal of HITEC-IMS Dental College, and led by Dr. Maria Rabbani, Assistant Professor of Community Dentistry, reached beyond the institution’s premises to spread oral health awareness.
On March 17, an oral health awareness lecture at COMSATS University featured Dr. Rida Batool and Dr. Irfan Shah, who highlighted oral cancer, its prevalence, and preventive measures. The session included a Q&A segment, where students actively participated, demonstrating a strong interest in oral health education.
As part of the community outreach program, a dedicated team of third-year BDS students and house officers, supervised by Dr. Maria Rabbani, visited Educators and Government Primary School to provide free dental checkups to over 250 students. The children were also educated on proper brushing techniques, cavity prevention, and the importance of regular dental visits.
Poster Competition – March 20, 2025
Second-year BDS students participated in a poster competition, illustrating the link between oral health and mental well-being. Judged by Dr. Shazana Rana, Dr. Rabia Masood, and Dr. Amir Rafique, the competition encouraged creativity and scientific accuracy in promoting dental health awareness.
Grand Awareness Session & Closing Ceremony – March 21, 2025
The final day of the campaign concluded with an awareness session at HITEC-IMS Auditorium, attended by faculty members, BDS students, paramedics, and representatives from HITEC University, Taxila.
The session featured an impactful lecture by Prof. Dr. Arshad Mehmood Malik, Dean of HBS Dental College, on common dental diseases, their prevention, and treatment options. The event also included interactive quizzes, oral health kit distributions, and an engaging skit performed by second- and third-year BDS students, emphasizing fluoride use.
The poster competition winners were awarded, marking a successful conclusion to the campaign. This initiative by HITEC-IMS Dental College highlights its commitment to oral health advocacy and community service.
