LAHORE: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently hosted a comprehensive session on pain management as part of its 17th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD). The session was led by Dr. Khawaja Shehryar Nasir, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and Consultant at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr. Nasir provided in-depth insights into various aspects of pain management in dentistry, including the administration of anesthetics, post-procedural pain control, and strategies for diagnosing and managing orofacial conditions that cause facial and head pain. He elaborated on common odontogenic pain encountered in dental practice and discussed pharmacological approaches for effective management. Additionally, Dr. Nasir addressed non-odontogenic pain and their respective management techniques.

Participants engaged actively, seizing the opportunity to interact with Dr. Nasir and clarify their concerns regarding pain management in dental practice. The session was well-received, enhancing the practitioners' understanding and skills in managing complex pain scenarios in dentistry.
