Dubai: Under the support and patronage of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), 8th UAE Cancer Congress will take place from 20th to 22nd of October at the Intercontinental Hotel Festival City, Dubai UAE.

World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that 400,000 people in this region will die from cancer every year. The statistics revealed by WHO shows that the Eastern Mediterranean region – which includes the Middle East – there were 555,318 new cases of cancer in 2012. And by 2030, this could rise to 0.96 Million, meaning this region will have the highest relative increase of all regions in the world. Poor health care, unhealthy lifestyles and lack of early detection are blamed for the rise in cancer.

To ensure quality and uniformity in cancer care oncologists gather every year to learn, interact and exchange expert views. To support the educational initiative and expand knowledge offering to its international delegates for very first time UAE Cancer Congress is proud to collaborate and present international associations namely, the Breast Surgery International (BSI) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) who are fully supporting with their expertise in the field.

This year the unique features of the meeting would be much talked about immune-oncology which refers to the body’s natural defence system. Immuno therapies help fighting cancer through use of drugs that target one’s immune system. At UAE Cancer Congress leading experts from UAE and UK will focus on new science and technology used in the development of the next generation of effective and safe immunotherapies.

The congress will be covering current leading topics on multi-disciplinary cancer treatments including breast, lung, stomach, head & neck, blood and other key areas. The highlight of two day event is the live surgery telecasted live from Tata Memorial hospital in India.
The event will welcome more than 1500 participants from around the world. The congress will be held under the theme ‘Promoting Excellence in Oncology’ – and includes workshops, plenary sessions, abstract presentations, corporate symposia, an exhibit hall, and networking receptions.
