Why MDCAT matters
MDCAT is a crucial requirement for securing admission in MBBS and BDS programs in recognized medical and dental institutions across Pakistan. PMDC has urged all prospective candidates to complete their registration before the deadline to avoid late fees and ensure a smooth application process.
PMDC clarifies fee increase claims
The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council has addressed circulating claims of an 80% fee hike for MDCAT 2025, stating that the increase is actually 12.5% compared to last year. In 2024, the registration fee was PKR 8,000, while for 2025 it has been set at PKR 9,000 — an addition of only PKR 1,000. PMDC explained that the revision was requested by test-conducting universities due to rising operational costs, including paper printing, enhanced security, examiner payments, and nationwide as well as international logistics. The council emphasized that despite inflation, it remains committed to affordability, fairness, and maintaining high testing standards to ensure merit-based admissions for all aspiring medical and dental students.
