KARACHI- Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) administration has sought Rangers’ help for removing encroachers who have unlawfully occupied hospital’s land, flats and hostels.
Sources in the JPMC, on the condition of anonymity, said that hospital administration had sent a letter to Sindh Rangers director-general with a request to help the hospital’s administration in getting vacated its flats and hostels from the possession of those occupying them unlawfully since long.
The JPMC administration has also requested Rangers to extend help and coordinate with Saddar police station in getting the hospital’s land vacated from encroachers.
The sources said that although the JMPC administration had repeatedly asked all those who are unlawfully occupying the hospital’s flats and hostels and those encroaching upon its land to vacate the health facility’s property, they turned a deaf ear to the hospital’s notices issued to them by the JPMC accommodation committee.
“In fact, JPMC has been incurring huge financial burden annually on account of utility bills of its property which has been unlawfully occupied by unauthorized persons,” the sources added.
JPMC’s deputy director (Admin) Dr Jawaid Jamali when contacted confirmed that a letter had been sent to Rangers for seeking their help in getting removed encroachments established in the hospital’s premises in last seven to eight years.
“Around 24 acres of hospital’s land has been unlawfully lencroached upon in last few years,” he added.
Meanwhile, JPMC administration has issued notices to over 50 employees, including doctors, paramedical staff and nurses, who have reportedly rented out their official residences.
