ISLAMABAD: In a significant policy update that is likely to garner mixed reactions, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved an increase in the maximum age limit for faculty members in private medical and dental colleges.
The decision was made during the 12th meeting of the Council held in Islamabad. The age limit has been raised from 70 to 75 years, allowing experienced educators to remain active in teaching and research roles for an extended period.
In an official circular, addressed to all principals of medical and dental colleges, deans of postgraduate medical and dental institutes, and registrars of medical universities, the PMDC informed stakeholders of this change.
According to the PMDC sources, this policy shift is expected to benefit both faculty members and students by retaining the expertise of seasoned educators who bring invaluable experience to the academic and clinical training of future medical professionals.
