Sindh government names Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khalidi to lead dental services at Civil Hospital Karachi

KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has appointed senior dental professional Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khalidi as Chief Dental Surgeon (BS-20) at Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, marking a key leadership move for public-sector oral healthcare in the province. The appointment has been notified by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department and takes effect immediately.

With more than three decades of service in dentistry, Dr. Khalidi brings a blend of clinical expertise and administrative experience to one of Pakistan’s busiest tertiary care hospitals. A native of Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), he earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and has been associated with public healthcare since the early 1990s.

Prior to assuming his new role, Dr. Khalidi served as Head of the Dental Department and Additional Chief Dental Surgeon at Sindh Government Services Hospital, Karachi, where he was involved in strengthening service delivery and supervising training activities for young dentists. His career also includes leadership of the dental unit at Police Hospital Karachi and administrative responsibilities as District Dental Focal Person for Thatta and Sujawal.

Colleagues describe him as a committed professional with a strong focus on improving access to quality dental care in government hospitals. His earlier recognition through nominations for “Who’s Who in Pakistan” reflects a career marked by both professional distinction and public service.

As Chief Dental Surgeon at Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr. Khalidi is expected to play a central role in upgrading clinical standards, streamlining departmental operations, and expanding patient-oriented dental services. Health officials view the appointment as an important step toward reinforcing dental healthcare delivery within Sindh’s largest public hospital network.
