LARKANA, SINDH: Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) in Larkana recently organised a workshop focused on clear aligner therapy, bringing together dental practitioners and trainees to enhance their understanding of modern orthodontic techniques.
The training session was conducted under the supervision of Dr Almas Rahoojo, Head of the Department of Orthodontics, who oversaw the academic planning and execution of the workshop. The initiative aimed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for the application of aligner-based treatments in clinical settings.
Dr Nadeem Hussain Jatoi, a consultant orthodontist and Key Opinion Leader for ClearPath Aligners, led the scientific component of the workshop. He delivered a detailed lecture covering key aspects of clear aligner therapy, including patient selection, treatment planning, and the biomechanics involved in aligner use. The session also outlined clinical protocols followed in contemporary orthodontic practice.
Following the lecture, participants took part in a hands-on demonstration where they were introduced to the practical use of aligner systems. The interactive component allowed attendees to better understand how such treatments are implemented in routine dental care.
The workshop drew participation from general dental practitioners from surrounding areas as well as house officers, reflecting increasing interest in adopting newer orthodontic approaches. Faculty members noted that the demand for training in aesthetic and minimally invasive treatment options has been rising in recent years.
Dr Murk, a lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics and a recent FCPS graduate, assisted in facilitating the practical sessions, providing guidance to participants during the exercises.
Organisers said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen clinical training and keep practitioners updated with evolving trends in dentistry. They added that such programs are essential to support the transition towards more advanced and patient-friendly orthodontic solutions in Pakistan.
