KARACHI: Baqai Dental College’s Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics recently conducted a Basic Endodontics Workshop for final year BDS students, delivering practical, supervised training in core root canal procedures. The in-house academic activity was offered without any fees and combined a focused lecture with an intensive hands-on session.

The workshop was led by Dr Kelash Kumar, Associate Professor, HOD and Vice Principal, Baqai Dental College, together with Dr Hasan Afaq Zaidi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Endodontics Department, and their dedicated team. Under their guidance, students practiced the full sequence of root canal treatment on extracted teeth, strictly following standard procedures and clinical protocols.

Participants performed all key steps of root canal therapy including access preparation, canal negotiation, cleaning and shaping, and obturation techniques on extracted specimens. The faculty emphasized infection control, accurate working length determination, aseptic technique, and adherence to established endodontic protocols to ensure patient safety and clinical competence.

This workshop aimed to strengthen clinical confidence and technical skills among final year trainees by offering real-time, supervised practice that bridges theoretical learning with operative experience. Organizers described the session as successful, with enthusiastic participation and active skill development across the cohort.

Baqai Dental College continues to prioritize hands-on training and competency-based learning within its curriculum, reinforcing the college’s commitment to producing clinically competent dental graduates equipped for safe, evidence-based endodontic practice.
