GUJRANWALA: In an effort to improve access to healthcare for underserved populations, a team from the Dental Welfare Complex conducted a dental outreach visit at Central Jail Gujranwala, providing treatment and consultation to prison inmates.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Rizwan Asghar and focused on addressing common oral health issues among inmates, including tooth decay, gum disease, infections, and untreated dental pain. Prison populations are often at higher risk of such conditions due to limited access to regular dental care and preventive services.

During the visit, the dental team offered examinations, basic treatments, and guidance on maintaining oral hygiene. The outreach aimed to reduce immediate discomfort among inmates while also promoting awareness about the importance of dental health.

The activity was supported by a team of professionals including Dr. Talha Sajid, Dr. Ramza Abbas, and other members associated with the PDA Welfare Complex, who worked collectively to ensure timely and organized service delivery within the facility.

Healthcare experts note that access to dental services in correctional institutions remains limited, making such initiatives important in bridging gaps in care. Regular outreach programs and integration of oral health services into prison healthcare systems are often recommended to improve overall health outcomes in such settings.

Organizers of the initiative emphasized that extending healthcare services to marginalized groups is an essential part of broader public health efforts, and similar programs can play a role in improving both individual well-being and community health standards.
