Dr. Mahmood Shah – A strong contestant at the FDI elections.

Istunbul, Turkey -  Despite the restraints created by the war on terror across Pakistan,the Dr. Shah and PDA is actively conducting Oral Health activities, awareness campaigns, conferences and Continuous Dental Education (CDE) seminars and has proved to be able leader within Pakistan and Asia-Pacific.

Pakistan Dental Association (Central Council) had nominated Senior Dental Surgeon and Orhtodontist - Dr. Mahmood Shah to contest the ongoing FDI Council Elections being held in Istanbul, Turkey this month. The highly competent practitioner and an evolved leader - Dr. Shah brings with him all the requisite capabilities to be elected as an FDI councilor and lead this global Federation towards achieving new milestones of progress. Previously, another leading Pakistani Dentist – Dr. Arif Alvi, had won these elections twice and made valuable contributions during his two tenures.

Dr. Mahmood Shah has previously served the Dental Commission of Asia Pacific Dental Federation (APDF), as a Chairman and also as a Vice President. Currently, he is the President of Pakistan Dental Association (Sindh Chapter). To prove his passion to serve the global dental fraternity, Dr. Mahmood Shah is relying solely on his own finances to participate in these elections. The elections this year promise to be a tough contest, as this leading Pakistani Dentist will be competing against strong candidates from the USA, Canada, Turkey, Korea, Mongolia, Morocco and India too. Next year, the FDI elections will be hosted by India, during the FDI Congress to be held in New Dehli.

It could be yet another great opportunity for a Pakistani professional to play a leadership role in a truly global Dental body, so the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) is making all efforts to inspire the FDI member countries and delegates at the FDI congress, to vote for Dr. Shah. Being a longstanding, proactive member of FDI and other global organizations, the PDA has been consistently promoting Oral health in Pakistan and abroad.

Despite the restraints created by the war on terror across Pakistan, the PDA is actively conducting Oral Health activities, awareness campaigns, conferences and Continuous Dental Education (CDE) seminars. Facing all such professional hazards courageously, Dr. Shah has proved to be an able leader within Pakistan and Asia-Pacific. Now he is promising the same dedication for development and success in a global role. Dr. Shah is fully conversant and aligned with the noble objectives of the FDI and he commands complete support and respect from the PDA in this endeavor.

Some highlights of the achievements and services of Dr. Shah are truly noteworthy; He was elected as the Founder Chairman, General Dental Practice Commission of APDF (2008-2010). Elected as the Vice President of APDF-APRO (2004-2006), he was the Patron of 28th Asia Pacific Dental Congress in Karachi (2006). He has been repeatedly elected as the President and General Secretary of Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Karachi Chapter and Sind Chapter for the past several years. Dr. Shah is also an active member of Editorial Board in the Journal of Pakistan Dental Association (JPDA).

His Academic Profile features: A Preceptor Ship in Orthodontics from the University to California Los Angeles (1992), a Bachelors degree in Dental Surgery 1981, Membership in Orthodontics with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan since 1995, A diploma in Dental Health from University of Dublin Ireland (1985), 8 Scientific Paper Presentations in the JPDA, and several presentations at National/International Conferences and Symposiums, over the years. His extra curricular achievements include a Black Belt in Martial Arts.
