LAHORE: The Department of Orthodontics at Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences (FJIDS) will hold a specialized training workshop next week aimed at enhancing participants' understanding of orthodontic biomechanics and wire-bending techniques.

Scheduled for June 5, 2026, the academic session will focus on loop mechanics, with particular emphasis on the design, fabrication, and clinical application of T Loops and Opus Loops used in orthodontic treatment.

The workshop is expected to attract orthodontic residents, postgraduate trainees, dental practitioners, and academics seeking to strengthen their practical skills in wire bending and force management.

Organizers said the program has been designed to combine theoretical concepts with practical demonstrations, enabling participants to gain a clearer understanding of how loop systems are used to achieve controlled tooth movement, space closure, and anchorage control during orthodontic treatment.

The training will be led by senior orthodontic faculty members, including Dr. Sohaib Hassan, Head of Orthodontics at CMH Quetta College of Dentistry, and Dr. Muhammad Azeem, Head of Orthodontics at Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences. Dr. Nayha Enver, Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at FJIDS, will also contribute to the session.

In addition to hands-on exercises, participants will receive guidance on clinical decision-making and biomechanical considerations involved in orthodontic treatment planning. The program will also include discussions related to TOACS and examination preparation, offering additional academic value for postgraduate candidates.

Dental educators note that despite rapid advances in digital orthodontics, proficiency in conventional wire bending remains an essential clinical competency. Understanding biomechanical principles and force systems continues to play a crucial role in achieving predictable treatment outcomes and managing complex orthodontic cases.

The workshop will take place at the Orthodontic Department of FJIDS Lahore from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested participants can obtain registration details through the organizing team.
