KARACHI – Frequent massive power breakdowns and unannounced loadshedding have made the life of patients, admitted in the public sector hospitals, miserable in the current hot and sultry weather.
Irony of the fact is that although health care facilities are supposed to be exempted from loadshedding, neither the provincial authorities seemed to be interested in getting such a decision implemented in letter and spirit nor the K-Electric is bothered about the plight of patients.
Heads of different hospitals confirmed that major power breakdowns and unannounced loadshedding have become a matter of routine and all their complaints in this regard to the power utility have, so far, remain unheeded.
They complained that frequent loadshedding and prolonged power cuts have not only made the lives of patients miserable but have also badly affected the working of their hospitals.
Most of such complaints have been received from Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad; Sindh Govt Hospital, Saudabad; Sindh Govt Hospital, Korangi; Sindh Govt Hospital, New Karachi; Sindh Govt Qatar Hospital, Orangi Town; Sindh Govt Ibrahim Haideri Hospital and Lyari General Hospital and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
