Hyderabad Civil Hospital launches free OMFS OPD for Advanced Oral Cancer Treatment & Surgery

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Civil Hospital has achieved a new milestone in healthcare service delivery by inaugurating a state-of-the-art Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Outpatient Department (OPD). This initiative aims to provide free oral cancer screenings, advanced oral surgeries, and specialized treatments to the public.

The Vice Chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), Professor Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan, officially launched the new facility, emphasizing its role in modernizing oral healthcare services. He highlighted that the OPD is equipped with cutting-edge technology and advanced machinery, ensuring high-quality treatment, particularly for oral cancer patients.

The grand inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several key dignitaries, including Dean Feroz Ali Kalhoro, MS Muhammad Ali, Additional Registrar Saroop Bhatia, Dr. Salman Memon, and other renowned medical professionals. Spearheading the initiative, Dr. Kashif Ali Channar, Chairman of the OMFS Department, played a pivotal role in establishing the OPD, which is committed to delivering free oral surgery treatments and comprehensive cancer screenings.

During his address, Dr. Ujjan lauded the contributions of senior professors and medical experts, including Dr. Shahzad, Dr. Suneel, Dr. Wahid, Dr. Hammad, and Dr. Abdul Gaffar, for their relentless efforts in making this facility a reality. He stressed the importance of early detection and treatment of oral diseases, particularly in a region witnessing a surge in oral health issues.

The newly inaugurated OMFS OPD at Hyderabad Civil Hospital is outfitted with advanced diagnostic tools, making it a hub for oral cancer screenings, maxillofacial surgeries, and reconstructive procedures. It aims to bridge the healthcare gap by providing free, high-quality treatments to underprivileged patients.

The ceremonial inauguration included a ribbon-cutting event and a special prayer (Dua) for the success of the facility. Dr. Kashif Ali Channar provided an in-depth briefing to the Vice Chancellor and attendees, detailing the OPD’s structure, advanced services, and long-term impact on public health.

Prominent guests, including Prof. Sajjad Akhound, Prof. John Ishac, Prof. Qader ul Hassan, and Dr. Noor Ahmed Khoso, attended the event, reflecting the significance of this momentous achievement in Pakistan’s healthcare landscape.

This new OPD represents a significant step forward in the provision of accessible, free-of-cost oral health care for the community, improving the quality of healthcare services available to the public.
