ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IM&DC) recently hosted an insightful session titled "Future-Proofing Your Medical Career: Why Your Degree Needs AI?" aimed at medical and dental students, house officers, and faculty at the IM&DC Auditorium and Islamabad Dental Hospital (IDH). This session was designed to shed light on the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and to provide participants with the knowledge needed to adapt to this rapidly evolving field.
The session was led by Dr. Usman Hadi, an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, Ulster University, Belfast (UK). With an MS and PhD from the University of Bologna, Italy, and postdoctoral research experience at Aalborg University, Denmark, in collaboration with Nokia, Dr. Hadi is recognized as one of the top 2% of researchers globally. His expertise, backed by over 80 published research papers, provided valuable insights into the integration of AI into clinical practice and medical education.
Key stakeholders from GAK HealthCare International, including Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi and Executive Director Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, also participated in the session. Their involvement highlighted the growing recognition of AI's role in transforming healthcare and the need for healthcare professionals to embrace emerging technologies in order to stay competitive and relevant in the industry.
During the session, Dr. Hadi led an interactive discussion on how AI skills can be integrated into medical education and clinical practice. He stressed the importance of adapting to technological advancements in order to improve patient care, enhance medical research, and revolutionize treatment planning. The session was highly interactive, allowing participants to explore practical ways in which AI can be leveraged to enhance healthcare outcomes.
The audience, which included both students and faculty members, responded enthusiastically to the session. There was a strong focus on how AI could be incorporated into everyday learning and professional practice to future-proof careers in the healthcare industry. The session provided a comprehensive understanding of the growing influence of AI across medical research, diagnostics, and patient treatment, reinforcing its importance in the modern healthcare landscape.
