KARACHI- Civil Hospital Karachi’s (CHK) isolation and oral & maxillofacial surgery wards have been made functional.
According to sources, the CHK’s isolation ward was earlier shut down by the hospital’s administration due to unavailability of qualified doctors required for treating patients suffering from infectious diseases.
The isolation ward re-opened recently has a separate room for dengue fever patients, while another room with four beds has been reserved for patients suffering from some specific infectious diseases.
Moreover, the CHK’s oral & maxillofacial surgery ward has also been made functional.
They said now the CHK’s maxillofacial surgery ward has 16 beds – 10 beds reserved for male and six for female patients.
The maxillofacial surgery is needed to treat many diseases, injuries and defects in the jaws, teeth, hard and facial areas of soft tissues.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association’s (PPMSA) Karachi chapter’s president, Muhammad Nazeer Abbasi, has hailed the CHK administration’s decision of re-opening both the wards.
He lauded the PPMSA leadership’s struggle in getting both the wards re-opened.
The CHK’s additional Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Qadir Siddiqui said that maxillofacial surgery ward has been expanded, while the isolation ward has been made functional.
He also disclosed that efforts are being made to hire the services of qualified doctor for re-opening the hospital’s vascular surgery ward.
