Isra Dental College conducts hands-on workshop on crown preparation and provisional restoration

HYDERABAD, SINDH: The Prosthodontics Department of Isra Dental College (IDC), recently conducted a comprehensive five-day hands-on workshop on crown preparation and direct technique of provisional restoration at the Phantom Head Lab, IDC.

The workshop was organized under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ahmad Waliullah Kazi, Vice Chancellor, Isra University, Prof. Dr. Salman Shafique, Dean IDC, and Dr. Maqsood Ahmad Soomro, Head of the Prosthodontics Department.

The workshop was expertly facilitated by Dr. Farzana Memon, Associate Professor, Prosthodontics Department, along with co-facilitators Dr. Syeda Bakhtawer, Dr. Sana Memon, and Dr. Kinza Qureshi, who shared valuable insights and practical knowledge throughout the sessions.

The participants, comprising final-year BDS students, had the opportunity to gain immersive, hands-on experience aimed at improving clinical techniques, precision, and understanding of restorative procedures.

A certificate and shield distribution ceremony was held on October 23, 2025, at the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium, where Dr. Farzana Memon delivered a warm welcome address. She emphasized the workshop’s objective — to strengthen clinical skills through simulation-based training and promote applied learning in prosthodontics.

The event concluded with remarks from Prof. Dr. Salman Shafique, Dean IDC, who appreciated the Prosthodontics Department team, including Dr. Maqsood Ahmad Soomro and Dr. Farzana Memon, for their dedicated efforts in organizing a workshop that bridges the gap between theory and clinical practice. He also congratulated the participating students for their active involvement and enthusiasm.
