Khyber Medical University’s dental awareness camp provides free checkups and education to over 600 participants

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar successfully organized a community dental awareness camp on May 8, 2025, aiming to promote oral health and hygiene among the general public. The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Benish Aleem, Head of the Department of Oral Pathology at the Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine (IPDM).

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, staff, and residents of nearby communities. A core highlight of the camp was free dental check-ups, interactive sessions on preventive dental care, and oral hygiene education, all delivered by a dedicated team of experienced dentists, faculty members, and student volunteers.

Expert-led oral health education and advanced dental care awareness

Speakers from Colgate Pakistan and Clearpath Orthodontics led educational sessions that offered practical guidance on daily oral hygiene practices and introduced attendees to modern treatment options. A dedicated Q&A session allowed direct engagement with experts, empowering participants with better understanding of long-term oral wellness.

Mobile dental services reach over 600 individuals

A mobile dental clinic, installed on campus by Clearpath Orthodontics, provided free oral examinations and consultations to more than 600 individuals, especially targeting underserved segments. Additionally, Colgate distributed complimentary dental hygiene kits, reinforcing its commitment to public oral health.

The event was commended by senior university leaders, including:

Vice chancellor’s remarks

Professor Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of KMU, praised the organizing team and thanked all stakeholders and sponsors. He reiterated KMU’s continued commitment to healthy living, accessible healthcare, and community engagement, especially in areas like oral hygiene education, which are vital yet often overlooked.
