LUMHS 6th International Dental Conference explores future of oral health

JAMSHORO: The 6th International Dental Conference and Student Expo 2026, held at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), marked a milestone in dental education by merging the age-old traditions of dentistry with cutting-edge technological advancements. Under the theme “Transforming Oral Health: Where Technology Meets Tradition,” the conference brought together global experts, educators, and students to explore emerging trends in the dental field.

Organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan, Vice Chancellor of LUMHS, and Prof. Dr. Feroz Ali Kalhoro, Dean of Dentistry, LUMHS, the event served as a significant academic platform. The organizing committee, headed by Prof. Dr. Kashif Ali Channar and Dr. Salman Shams Memon, ensured the smooth execution of the conference, fostering collaboration among the dental community.

With a remarkable lineup of national and international experts, the conference featured engaging discussions on integrating modern technologies into dental practices. Renowned speakers like Dr. Rana Nasr Alsharkas, Dr. Shady Ahmed Moussa Aly, and Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad Wariach shared valuable insights on innovative treatment methodologies, including the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in dental education.

A highlight of the conference was the extensive research showcase, which included 47 poster presentations, 15 table clinics, and 17 postgraduate case presentations. These showcased the latest advancements and clinical excellence in the field of dentistry, demonstrating the commitment to evidence-based practices.

An engaging panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Dr. Feroz Ali Kalhoro, discussed new strategies shaping the future of dental practice. Panelists, including Prof. Shahjahan Katpar and Prof. Asaad Javaid, provided thought-provoking insights on patient care, technology integration, and the future of oral health education.

The event also featured a quiz competition among students from 17 universities, fostering academic engagement, and a dental exhibition showcasing the latest in dental tools, instruments, and materials.

To wrap up the event, the attendees enjoyed a Musical Gala Night Dinner, providing a relaxed setting for networking and socializing. This blend of academic rigor and social interaction marked the conference as a truly holistic experience for dental professionals.

As the conference concluded, it underscored LUMHS’s leadership in dental education and research, setting the stage for continued advancements in oral health and paving the way for ongoing research and innovation in the field.
