ISLAMABAD: In a telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded Bill Gates for the services of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in Pakistan.
Mr Gattes, co-chair of the BMGF, and PM Shehbaz during the conversation discussed public health sector programmes.
The PM said elimination of polio is the government’s first priority to protect children from the crippling disease, besides controlling the problem of malnutrition. He added the government was employing all available resources for the purpose.
“We want to make the ongoing cooperation with the foundation (BMGF) even better and more productive,” he said.
Mr Gates also praised PM Shehbaz’s leadership and Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate polio, assuring him full support to the nation in saving its children from the disease.
They also discussed malnutrition, stunted growth, provision of essential disease prevention services, issues related to digitization of Micro Payment Gateway Rast and National Savings Programme.
They agreed upon continuing the cooperation and collaboration.
