RIHS intracollegiate research fair 2025 highlights innovation, student talent

ISLAMABAD: The Rawal Institute of Health Sciences (RIHS) successfully organized its intracollegiate research fair 2025, bringing together students and faculty from the colleges of dentistry, medicine, nursing, and rehabilitation sciences. The event provided an interactive platform for students to present their research, exchange ideas, and strengthen a culture of innovation in medical education.

The program began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Shakaib Anwar, Principal Rawal College of Medicine, who highlighted the value of research platforms in broadening perspectives and encouraging meaningful contributions to knowledge.

Competitions encourage creativity and scientific thinking

The fair featured three major competitions:

  • PowerPoint presentations: Students presented diverse topics, from the role of herbal medicines in root canal treatment to the effects of diet on orthodontic brackets. Dr. Ahmed Iftikhar from orthodontics won first prize among postgraduates, while MBBS students Shayan Hussain and Shazam Nawaz secured first place among undergraduates.
  • Video submissions: With the theme “Healthy beginnings, hopeful future”, participants created awareness-focused videos. Dr. Fatima Tanzeem’s animated video “Molly the Molar” won first prize for its creative approach to teaching oral health.
  • Poster displays: Posters on emerging topics like artificial intelligence in dental education and accepting smile imperfections drew wide interest. M. Ali’s poster on AI in dentistry won first prize, reflecting students’ vision for the future of healthcare.

Expert guidance and recognition

Prof. Dr. Rubina Mumtaz, HOD Community Dentistry, and Prof. Dr. Mirza Inam Ul Haq, HOD Community Medicine, addressed participants, emphasizing the importance of research in developing critical thinking and professional growth. They distributed certificates to winners and participants, followed by a group photograph and refreshments.

The fair concluded with remarks by Prof. Dr. Saad Asad, Principal Rawal College of Dentistry, who congratulated students on their achievements and encouraged them to pursue research beyond academic requirements. He praised the organizing team for successfully executing a meaningful and inspiring event.

The RIHS research fair 2025 not only celebrated student achievements but also reinforced the institution’s commitment to fostering education, innovation, and excellence in healthcare research.
