PESHAWAR: Women Dental College (WDC) has recognized third-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students, faculty members and organizers for their contributions to the institution's Community Outreach Activities 2026 during a certificate distribution ceremony organized by the Department of Community Dentistry.

The ceremony acknowledged the efforts of participants who took part in community-based oral health awareness and preventive dentistry initiatives carried out as part of the college's outreach programme, reflecting WDC's continued emphasis on combining dental education with community service.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address and remarks by the college principal, who commended the commitment, teamwork and dedication shown by students, faculty and the organizing committee throughout the outreach programme.

The principal highlighted the importance of community engagement in dental education, noting that outreach activities help students gain practical experience while improving their understanding of oral health promotion, patient education and public health challenges.

During the ceremony, certificates and commemorative shields were presented to third-year BDS students, faculty members and organizers in recognition of their services to the Community Outreach Activities 2026.

The Department of Community Dentistry organized the programme to acknowledge the contributions of participants involved in promoting oral health awareness and preventive dental care within the community.

Community outreach programmes form an important component of undergraduate dental education by providing students with opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-world settings. Such initiatives also strengthen students' communication, teamwork and leadership skills while encouraging greater awareness of preventive oral healthcare among the public.

The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and lunch, where students, faculty members and staff celebrated the successful completion of the outreach programme. The Department of Community Dentistry also thanked the college administration, faculty, staff and students for their support in making the initiative a success.
