KARACHI – Sindh Government has proposed 10 percent increase in health budget for fiscal year 2015-16, while three institutions will be made functional beside work on on-going health related development projects will also be accelerated across the Sindh province for timely completion, sources at health department Sindh told recently.
Sources said in 2014-15, the provincial government allocated Rs43 billion for health with 20 percent increase over last year’s allocation for the sector out of which Rs15 billion amounts was earmarked for development schemes. They informed that provincial government on the recommendation of health department has proposed 10 percent increase for fiscal year 2015-16.
They informed that Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) Complex Sukkur will be made functional for coming fiscal year and funds also allocated for complex in budget. They further informed that Liver Transplant Department in Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) will also start functioning from fiscal year 2015-16 and government allocated funds for this in coming budget.
The health department Sindh will take control of Jacobabad Institute of Health Sciences (JIMS), which is currently running by international organization USAID. Beside this, work on on-going health projects will be accelerated in timely completion of projects.
