KARACHI- Last month, the Hamdard University held its 19th Convocation at the new purpose-built Convocation Centre on the main campus of Hamdard University. The Chief Guest on this auspicious occasion was the Chairperson of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Mukhtar Ahmed. Graduates & Post-graduates from seven different faculties were awarded degrees in various disciplines, while five candidates received PhD Degrees.

The event started with recitation from Holy Quran followed by a presentation of the Annual Report of Hamdard University by Vice Chancellor – Prof Dr Hakim Abdul Hannan in which he highlighted the various achievements of the university. He emphasized that; developing the culture of research is one of the major priorities of Hamdard University. Later, the students from all faculties were invited on the stag to get their degrees.

After that, the Chancellor Hamdard University – Madam Sadia Rashid was invited for a speech. She congratulated all the passing graduated & their parents on this very special day of their lives. She stressed on the need to work hard with full devotion & honesty, in order to raise the flag of their Alma Mater very high.

The Chief Guest – Chairperson HEC, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed was then invited to express his views, he mentioned that now this is the duty of all graduates to show professional attitude in their respective fields. In the current era of competition, every one has to do extra hard work for the better survival, secondly he also focused, that ethics should be strictly adopted in every field and profession.

In the end, famous cardiologist & CEO of Indus Hospital- Dr Abdul Barri was conferred an honorary PhD degree, in recognition of the services he has rendered towards the improvement of health facilities for the masses, by establishing a wonderful hospital for the needy people, where excellent healthcare is available at very low prices and even Free-of-cost for the deserving people.

From Dentistry – Dr Noor Tariq & Dr Sajid Ali Malik received gold medals during this convocation. Head of Dental Section – Prof. Nadeem Hafeez congratulated dental graduates & their parents on this very important day of their lives. He mentioned that HUDH is now offering Post graduation training in various dental disciplines. So it is a golden opportunity for them to get their post graduate qualification from Hamdard University as well.-PR
