LAHORE: The Dow International Dental College (DIDC), a prestigious part of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), has achieved a remarkable milestone at the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Conference 2025 held at the Expo Centre in Lahore. Among the brightest highlights of the event, DIDC stood out with a first-place win in the highly competitive poster competition, showcasing their leadership in dental research.
A victory for innovation in Endodontics
The winning team, consisting of Dr. Zameer (Lecturer, DIDC), Bilal Asad, and Kinza Altaf, presented their groundbreaking research titled “Silver Nanoparticles in Endodontic Sealers: Evaluating Their Bond Strength and Marginal Adaptation.” Their work, which delves into the potential of silver nanoparticles to improve the bond strength and marginal adaptation of endodontic sealers, garnered high praise for its innovation and applicability to root canal therapy. The research is poised to revolutionize treatment techniques in the field, offering enhanced effectiveness and durability for dental restorations.
Other contributions: A multidisciplinary approach
Beyond the first-place win, DIDC also made significant contributions through two other standout presentations:
-
Team 2, led by Muhammad Faizan, examined the effectiveness of dental prophylaxis combined with systemic antibiotic therapy in managing HbA1c levels, a key factor in diabetes management for dental patients.
-
Team 3, consisting of Asma Javed, Wajiha Khan, Hadia Riaz, and Umme Kulsoom, presented on Le Fort I access for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma treated without angiographic embolization, showcasing the college’s diverse research focus and its commitment to addressing complex medical and dental challenges.
These presentations not only contributed valuable insights into the evolving landscape of cosmetic dentistry and medical-surgical integration but also reinforced DIDC’s reputation as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration.
