KARACHI: Dr Muhammad Faizan, a graduate of Dow Dental College (DDC), has been selected as a General Duty Dental Officer (GDDO) in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps, marking a notable professional achievement for the young dental surgeon and his alma mater.

According to official joining instructions, Dr Faizan is scheduled to report on May 14, 2026, as part of the Pakistan Army’s induction process for dental officers under the Army Medical Corps framework.

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Dow Dental College with a CGPA of 3.7 out of 4.0, reflecting strong academic performance and consistent clinical training during his dental education.

Institutional sources stated that Dr Faizan is the only candidate from Sindh reportedly selected in the latest batch for induction as a General Duty Dental Officer, making his selection particularly significant for the province’s dental academic community.

The General Duty Dental Officer role falls under the Pakistan Army Medical Corps, which recruits qualified dental surgeons to provide oral healthcare services, preventive dentistry, and clinical treatment across military hospitals, dental centers, and field medical units.

Selected candidates typically undergo orientation and structured military training as part of the commissioning process before formally assuming duties as commissioned officers within the armed forces healthcare system.

Healthcare educators note that commissions in the Army Medical Corps are highly competitive and are considered a sought-after career pathway for dental graduates due to structured progression, professional discipline, and service opportunities within military healthcare.

Faculty members at Dow Dental College and colleagues of Dr Faizan have described his selection as a moment of pride for the institution and an encouraging example for young dental professionals pursuing careers in clinical excellence and public service.

Dr Faizan’s formal induction process is expected to proceed following completion of required documentation and training procedures in accordance with Pakistan Army regulations.
