KARACHI: The Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC), Karachi, is making impactful strides in dental education by expanding global opportunities for its students through its international student placement program. This initiative connects dental students and young graduates with accomplished FJDC alumni practicing worldwide, providing real-time observational learning, mentorship, and insights into global dental care standards.
Recently, Maha Adnan Khan, a third-year BDS student at FJDC, visited leading dental practices in Toronto, Ontario, where she shadowed distinguished FJDC alumni who have established successful careers in Canada’s competitive healthcare sector. The experience allowed her to deepen her clinical understanding, enhance her knowledge of practice management, and observe the application of international dental protocols.
Placement clinics visited in Canada included:
- Dr. Aminna Bukhari – Sherwood Forrest Dental, ON
- Dr. Jumshaid Ali Khan – J. Dental Care & Sahar Dentistry
- Dr. Kashif Jamal – Orange Dental Inc
These clinics are formally on-board with FJDC’s international student placement and internship program, which is designed to help graduates gain professional exposure beyond Pakistan. The program is more than just observational — it broadens perspectives, builds professional confidence, and opens doors for future collaborations across borders.
Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Dr. S. Hussain Askary, CEO of FJDC, said:
“Our students carry the ethos and excellence of FJDC wherever they go. This program shows them how our alumni are upholding these values internationally — and helps them envision careers without borders.”
With more international visits planned, FJDC continues to strengthen its global footprint, reinforcing its mission of producing culturally competent, globally aware, and professionally outstanding dental professionals. The college remains committed to fostering strong alumni ties that translate into real-world benefits for its students, ensuring they are ready for a future shaped by international standards in dental care.
