PESHAWAR: The Department of Dental Materials at Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) organized a workshop entitled "Stop Struggling, Start Writing: Hands-On Workshop on Research Writing with AI Tools."
Attended by 32 participants from diverse educational backgrounds, the event aimed to familiarize attendees with the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing research writing proficiency.
The workshop offered comprehensive guidance on utilizing prominent AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, SciSpace, and QuillBot, among others. Participants engaged in practical sessions, learning to use these tools to streamline their research writing process, enhance content quality, and boost productivity.
Dr Aiman Khan talked about SciSpace, an AI tool designed to facilitate the research process by granting access to a vast repository of scientific literature, thereby aiding efficient literature review.
Dr. Sahibzada Ammar Ahmad explored prompt engineering in ChatGPT, underscoring its role in tailoring AI-generated content to meet specific research needs.
Ethical considerations surrounding AI use in research writing were elucidated by Dr. Khumarah Roghani, emphasizing the importance of upholding ethical standards, transparency, fairness, and accountability.
Dr. Syed Muaz Masoom Shah provided insights into various AI tools and plug-ins designed for research writing, explaining their functionalities and benefits, from citation management systems to plagiarism detection software.
Throughout the workshop, interactive sessions allowed participants to explore the functionalities of various AI tools, gaining hands-on experience in integrating them into their research writing workflow.
Dean of KCD, Prof. Dr. Syed Nasir Shah, underscored the significance of embracing AI in academia, highlighting technology's role in empowering researchers to overcome challenges and excel in scholarly pursuits.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, presided over by KCD Dean Prof. Dr. Syed Nasir Shah, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Muslim Khan, undergraduate Dean Dr. Samrina Muhammad, and Chairperson of the Department of Dental Materials Dr. Aiman Khan.
The workshop was aimed to encourage innovation in research, and equipping researchers with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age.
