TAXILA: The HITEC-IMS Dental College Department of Dental Education recently organised a day-long workshop on the workplace-based assessment tool “Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS)” for its students and postgraduates.
On the occasion, college Principal Prof Dr Irfan Shah interacted with the workshop participants. All heads of clinical departments of the college were present, along with senior faculty members.
During the workshop, Dr Faizan Munir Khan and Dr Zerlis Nawaz covered major themes, including introduction to workplace-based assessments, salient features and recommendations for effective conduction of DOPS, along with the critically important ‘Art of Providing Specific & Actionable Feedback’ to the students and postgraduates.
The event also featured interactive group discussions, along with conduction of role play by the participants.
Moreover, different active learning and engagement activities were also carried out, including ‘Poll Everywhere’, ‘Voting on Padlet’ and ‘Quiz on Kahoot’.
The participants lauded the workshop as an effort to drive innovation in workplace-based assessments and promote a culture of providing quality feedback to both the students and trainees.
