LCMD holds research ethics workshop ahead of ICHPE 2025

KARACHI: As part of the 9th International Conference on Health Professions Education (ICHPE), a highly engaging pre-conference workshop titled “Truth, Trust, Transparency: Principles and Practice of Research Ethics” was successfully conducted at Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD).

The workshop was held under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi, Principal LCMD COD, whose continuous guidance and commitment to academic excellence laid the foundation for this initiative. His support reflects LCMD’s dedication to fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical scholarship within medical and dental education.

Distinguished experts lead the session

The session brought together respected academic leaders and educators who shared their expertise on research ethics:

  • Prof. Shahid Shamim, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, Aga Khan University, shared valuable perspectives on maintaining credibility and upholding the highest standards in scholarly work.
  • Prof. Tahera Ayub, Professor OMFS and Director DHPE, LCMD, highlighted the crucial role of ethical practices in ensuring meaningful and trustworthy research outcomes.
  • Dr. Sabaa Shahid, Incharge DHPE, LCMD, emphasized integrating ethical principles into the training and development of future health professionals.

Focusing on ethics, integrity, and transparency

The workshop explored the importance of ethics in research, focusing on the core pillars of truth, trust, and transparency. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their research practices, discuss ethical dilemmas, and identify strategies to strengthen academic integrity.

Through interactive dialogue and shared experiences, the workshop promoted ethical awareness and accountability—reinforcing LCMD’s role as a leading institution committed to advancing education through responsible and transparent research practices.

This initiative not only enhanced participants’ understanding of research ethics but also underlined the importance of ethical leadership in nurturing credible and sustainable health research environments.
