ZU faculty accomplishes VR Dental Simulation Lab training

KARACHI: College of Dentistry, Ziauddin University (ZU) recently announced that its faculty’s Virtual Reality Dental Simulation Lab training had been completed.

The Virtual Reality Dental Simulation Lab, Ziauddin College of Dentistry, Ziauddin University, was inaugurated on November 25 2021. This VR Lab was built with great support from Dr Asim Hussain, Chancellor, ZU, Dr Abbas Zafar, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, ZU, Dr Nida Hussain, Pro-Chancellor, ZU, Dr Mervyn Hosein, Principal College of Dentistry, ZU, Dr Asmat Jameel, Head of Operative Dentistry Department, ZU, Dr Shoaib Khan, Head of Dental Materials Department, ZU, Mr James Markey Global Head of Operations, HRV simulation and Dr Aisha Anwar, Dental OPD manager, ZU.

This is the first time such a lab has been made in Pakistan. Ziauddin College of Dentistry proudly announces the completion of training in the first three batches. Fifteen faculty members are trained in the VR lab under the supervision of Dr Sikander Majeed, Lecturer VR Lab, Dr Asmat Jameel and Dr Mervyn Hosein. These faculty members have received special training to train further the first, second and third year BDS students.

VR simulation training will now be a part of the undergraduate curriculum. This dental simulators training will help students excel in their professional skills before starting dental procedures on patients.
