Baqai Dental College equips future dentists for US careers with INBDE and immigration guidance

KARACHI: Baqai Dental College organized a comprehensive USA Career Counselling Session to help aspiring dentists understand the academic, licensing and immigration pathways required to pursue higher education and professional careers in the United States.

The session brought together undergraduate dental students seeking international career opportunities and provided practical guidance on the steps involved in obtaining US dental licensure, securing admission to advanced dental programmes and navigating student visa and immigration requirements.

A key focus of the programme was the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE), the computer-based licensing examination administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE). The examination is an essential requirement for internationally trained dentists planning to apply for Advanced Standing Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) programmes at accredited dental schools in the United States before becoming eligible for professional licensure.

Faculty members and career advisors explained the structure of the INBDE, outlining eligibility criteria, examination format, preparation strategies, application procedures and important timelines. Students were also introduced to the examination's integrated approach, which assesses both foundational biomedical sciences and clinical decision-making through patient-based scenarios that reflect real-world dental practice.
