BDC holds oral health awareness session for schoolchildren

KARACHI: Baqai Dental College’s community and preventive dentistry department recently conducted an oral health awareness session at ‘Salimullah Fehmi Memorial School Unit 1, Super Highway, Karachi.

Led by HoD Prof Dr Asghar Ali Shigri, along with assistant professors Dr Samreen Mazher and Dr Wajiha Anzar, BDS 2^nd year students took part in the session as part of community outreach activity.

The activity was aimed at enhancing oral health skills of the BDS students and creating awareness among schoolchildren about healthy practices to prevent oral diseases.

The BDS students, divided into seven groups, were sent to different classes, where they conducted a session on oral health awareness, with their focus on educating the schoolchildren about the importance of oral health, food beneficial for oral cavity, the impact of parafunctional habits and preventive measures to improve oral health. They were also guided about proper tooth-brushing techniques by the BDS students.
