KARACHI: With a view to promote oral health awareness among school children to ensure their dental well-being, the Bahria University Dental College (BUDC) held an informative session at the Beacon House School Kindergarten II Campus in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The session was conducted by a team of healthcare professionals from BUDC’s Dental Care Unit, led by Dr Muhammad Mohsin Haider (MMH), Senior Lecturer at the Department of Community Dentistry, and supported by Mr Qadeer Ahmed Tunio.
The session, conducted in a multimedia-equipped room at the school, included a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation highlighting the significance of maintaining optimal oral hygiene, common oral ailments, their causes and risk factors, with special emphasis on dietary practices, both favourable and detrimental, and preventive measures.
The information was effectively conveyed through a combination of informative videos and engaging presentations, ensuring a blend of education and entertainment suitable for the students who were also given practical demonstrations of correct tooth-brushing techniques using models for better understanding.
The school principal and staff members expressed their satisfaction with the informative activity that also addressed their concerns and queries.
In recognition of their valuable contribution, the team was presented with certificates of appreciation. Looking ahead, the BUDC team showed its eagerness to extend similar educational and awareness programmes to other branches of the school.
The experience proved to be mutually beneficial, serving as a valuable learning opportunity for both the school and the dental team involved.
