LAHORE: de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, and the Department of Prosthodontics, in collaboration with Chughtai Anaplastology Centre, successfully organized a three-day hands-on workshop on maxillofacial prosthesis from September 23 to 25, 2025. The event focused on advanced training in fabricating extraoral silicone prostheses, a vital component in the rehabilitation of patients with facial trauma, congenital anomalies, or post-surgical defects.

The workshop highlighted the clinical and humanitarian role of maxillofacial prosthodontics in restoring function, appearance, and confidence for patients. Special emphasis was placed on cosmetic camouflage and prosthetic rehabilitation for burn survivors, underlining the transformative potential of this field in improving quality of life.

Expert-led sessions

The training sessions were led by Mr. Rashid Chughtai, an internationally recognized anaplastologist, who shared his expertise in advanced silicone prosthesis fabrication. Participants benefited from live demonstrations and hands-on practice, bridging the gap between prosthodontics and anaplastology.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Shafaq Shakeel, who ensured smooth execution and active participant engagement. The structured program included theory, practical demonstrations, and clinical application, offering participants a comprehensive learning experience.

Faculty members and organizers emphasized that maxillofacial prosthesis extends beyond physical reconstruction, addressing psychological well-being, social integration, and dignity for patients.
