KARACHI: The Continuous Dental Education Committee (CDEC) at Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) has successfully conducted a series of research methodology workshops aimed at equipping dental graduates and faculty members with essential research skills. Led by Dr. Anjum Fahad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry and Ph.D. Scholar at Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), these interactive sessions provided hands-on training in research techniques, literature searches, and scientific writing.
The first workshop, "Decoding Dental Research: A Hands-on Approach to Methodology," engaged participants in understanding fundamental research methodologies. Attendees, including house officers and faculty members, actively participated in discussions and exercises, enhancing their grasp of research principles.
The next session, "From Search to Start: Effective Literature Search and Crafting Introduction," focused on training participants in efficient literature search strategies using academic databases like PubMed and Google Scholar. The session also covered structuring research introductions, ensuring clarity and coherence in scientific writing.
In the final workshop, "The Research Paper Path: From Data to Publication," participants learned the step-by-step process of transforming research findings into publishable papers. This session emphasized structuring manuscripts, ethical considerations, formatting guidelines, and submission protocols for reputable journals. Attendees actively practiced writing different sections of a research paper, receiving constructive feedback to refine their work.
Prof. Dr. Uzma Zareef, Chairperson of CDEC, concluded the series by extending a vote of thanks to Dr. Anjum Fahad for her dedication and contribution. In recognition of her efforts, she was presented with a shield and certificate of appreciation.
These workshops underscore LCMD’s commitment to continuous learning and professional development, empowering dental professionals with the skills necessary to contribute to high-impact research.
