LAHORE: Fatima Memorial Dental Hospital (FMDH) recently organized a rigorous and comprehensive exit assessment for its outgoing batch of house officers, reaffirming its commitment to upholding the highest standards of clinical education and patient care in Pakistan.

The carefully designed evaluation aimed to assess clinical competence, diagnostic abilities, and theoretical knowledge of the graduating house officers, ensuring they meet the professional and ethical standards required for independent practice.

Multi-component evaluation for graduating House Officers

The comprehensive assessment included three key components:

  • 200-MCQ Examination: This written test evaluated foundational and applied knowledge across multiple dental disciplines, including oral pathology, prosthodontics, periodontology, and oral surgery.
  • 15-Station OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination): Designed to test clinical judgment, patient communication, and procedural knowledge, the OSCE featured scenario-based stations replicating real-world clinical challenges, requiring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Three-Hour Phantom Head Clinical Skill Assessment: A hands-on test where each house officer demonstrated operative techniques and adherence to clinical protocols on simulated patients under the close supervision of senior faculty members.

Commitment to excellence in dental education

The faculty and administration at Fatima Memorial Dental Hospital commended the house officers for their dedication, perseverance, and professionalism throughout their training.

“This comprehensive exit assessment plays a vital role in preparing our graduates for safe and effective clinical practice,” said a senior faculty representative. “It reflects our mission to produce competent dental professionals who are equipped to meet the evolving oral health needs of society.”

By conducting such robust assessments, FMDH continues its tradition of advancing dental education, fostering professional growth, and ensuring high-quality patient care in Pakistan.
